British artist, Jason Atomic, has lived in Japan since April 1994, though he returned briefly to London for a working holiday after experiencing the earthquake in Kobe. He now lives with his wife Miyuki in downtown Tokyo.
Although better-known in the U.K. for his comix, character designs, and performance and installations, Atomic came to Japan to concentrate on life studies and can usually be found working on his latest series of landscapes, portraits and still lives to be shown in London next year. As a result of these paintings he has been chosen as the next guest artist to take up residence in Akatsuki House in Hikawa, Shimane prefecture.
