This
is a huge rambling old barn of a bath which has seen better days.
Sad. In its heyday it must have been impressive, with an imposing
facade, very high ceiling, and separate gardens for men and women
to gaze out on apres bath. In the afternoon, the sun streams in.
Its old-fashioned layout, with bandai, spacious changing rooms for
men and women, and 32 well-spaced washing stations suggest this was
Sanraku-yu was built for an affluent neighborhood, but recent gimcrack
carpentry and lack of basic amenities give it a faded air. There is
no cold bath, no sauna, and no rotemburo. All three hot tubs are uninspired
variations on the jacuzzi. There are no coin-operated massage chairs,
but there is a massage bed, which would be interesting if it worked.
